Top 3 Reasons To Have A Bridal Hair & Makeup Trial

Chances are if you’re reading this, you’re debating whether or not a bridal hair and/or makeup trial is the best choice for you. I get it, it seems like an added expense that’s completely unnecessary if you’re going to be working one-on-one with your hair stylist and/or makeup artist on your wedding day, right? Wrong. Stay with me here.

There are a plethora of reasons why you should prioritize having a bridal trial when you’re making your wedding budget.

Here are a few of the top ones:

Bridal makeup

1. We get to meet you! Most times beauty vendors are booked via email or over the phone, which makes the process simple and efficient. Nothing wrong with that! But what that usually means is the client and beauty professional haven’t met in person yet. This is so important because not only do we love working with you to create your desired look, but we find out who you are!

We talk about personal details such as your relationship, how you got engaged, what you two do for a living, and more! Then, of course, we discuss the beauty aspects so we can nail your look – how you normally wear your hair, how much makeup you wear daily if you have any allergies or sensitives, what your skin type is, what your hair type is, and so much more! The personal details not only allow us to form a connection but also help give us an idea of who you are in terms of your style. The beauty details are also vital to nailing your look!

2. You find out what you like or don’t like. As we go through the process of working on your hair and/or makeup during your trial, we continue to ask questions to make sure we are moving in the right direction. At the end of your trial, we hand you the mirror and ask if there are any changes you would like to make, big or small, and that we won’t get offended if you tell us there are. This is huge – remember the beauty professional is there to service you. We are there to make sure you look and feel like the best version of you on your wedding day, so if there is something that feels off or you don’t like, speak up so we can fix it! We’re happy to make any adjustments to ensure you love your look 110%.

3. You’re not rushed, unlike a wedding day that has a limited timeframe. We like to allot more than enough time for your trial to make sure no one feels rushed and we can make any of the changes I was referring to earlier. Sometimes we don’t need the whole time we have allotted, but we would rather be on the safe side.

At LA Page Makeup, we typically allot 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes for one service at a trial. This means it can take 2 to 3 hours for both a hair and makeup trial. To give you perspective, we allot 45 minutes per person per service on the wedding day, which means both your hair and makeup will be done within 1 hour and 30 minutes that day. As you can see, if you haven’t had a trial, we have half the amount of time to work with you on a wedding day to figure out your perfect look as we need to make sure we can fit everyone else in your bridal party who needs hair and makeup done, too. We also allot less time on the wedding day since we already know what your look is from the trial and can reference it while working with you on the wedding day.

Although we can accommodate you if you choose not to have a bridal trial, we can’t stress enough how important a bridal hair and/or makeup trial is to give you peace of mind. You can feel sure going into your wedding day that your hair and makeup will look perfect for every photo op while we make sure we get you ready by the time we said we would so you don’t miss a single moment of your big day.
